1.) What are your current goals and why?

Since joining this program, my primary goal has been to build muscle, especially in my glutes, while also staying as lean as possible. I want to be strong, and I want to look strong. My goal to build muscle is partially an aesthetic goal, but I also want to train as hard as I can in my 30s so that I have a foundation of strength that will support me as I get older. I plan on being active for a very long time. Recently, I experienced a low back injury, and since then, my goals have not exactly changed, but some new goals have entered the picture. I have learned that with my big goals, I cannot just race to the finish line. Now I am training to be strong, but in a more sustainable way with greater focus on learning my body and its limits as well as strengths.

Through all of this, my goal has also been to learn about nutrition and how to best fuel my body and my lifestyle.

2.) What keeps you motivated?

When it comes to fitness and nutrition, I am pretty self-motivated. Maintaining my abs is enough of a motivation for me to eat well and stay active. After losing over 30lbs, I am just so determined to keep it off. But more than that I love taking care of myself in these ways. Fitness and nutrition have become so much a part of my routine that now it’s harder when I don’t get to focus on them in the ways I want.

3.) Why is it important to you to live a healthy lifestyle?

I need to live a healthy life simply because it makes me feel good. When I feel good, I’m able to show up more for others in my life. Also, like I mentioned before, I want to be active for a long time, and this is the only body I get, so I want to keep it healthy and happy.

4.)What is your most memorable experience in this program?

I know this is not everyone’s experience. However, I had already lost over 30 pounds when I entered this program, so with my goal of building muscle, we gradually increased my food intake. I was so surprised to see how much food I can eat with my level of activity and still not gain weight. This showed me how many more nutrients my body needed to be sufficiently fueled, especially when trying to grow muscle.

5.)What are you most proud of since starting this program?

A significant highlight for me during this program has been recovering from my first injury. I have learned so much about healing and about my own body. Also, like I said, another highlight is learning how much food I can eat when I’m eating the right things and moving my body regularly! I have loved learning more about supplements to support my bod,y and another highlight is that all of this is really becoming second nature. I’m so much better at eyeballing food now and really understanding what I’m consuming, which is super empowering!
