1.) What motivated you to join the program, and what were you struggling with before you started?

Approaching 50 with a goal to live to 103, I wanted to make sure I was keeping myself on the right side to get there! I have struggled with gut issues for years and wanted a nutrition reset as well as some guidance on my fitness. I've always been active and have always had a healthy diet, but have never known quite enough to put it all together for true health. I also thrive with accountability!!

Through all of this, my goal has also been to learn about nutrition and how to best fuel my body and my lifestyle.

2. What’s been the most surprising or unexpected thing about your journey so far?

Learning how much stress and living in a constant state of go, go, go impacts my gut health as well as my health overall. O feel like we are always fed the mental impact of stress, but physical might be more real. I have been challenged and given tools to SLOW down recognizing that what may feel normal is certainly not optimal. I also have learned how much I really have half assed workouts much of my life because cardio just isn't my thing but was ingrained in me as being the way to being fit. I enjoy strength training so much more and feel so much better in my body having incorporated more of that into my workouts.

3. What’s a non-scale victory that stands out to you since joining All-Tru?

Geez where to start....my clothes fit better, I'm not bloated all the time, my shoulders aren't glued to my earlobes carrying all the stress, I'm sleeping better, eating more balanced and have been increasing my weights throughout workouts. A scale victory to me is just a number...I've never wanted to be a number anyway.

4. How has this program impacted your life beyond fitness or nutrition?

The impact of slowing down and the reminders that have been served to me to keep it top of mind. I work in a corporate environment, manage a team of people, have kids, am an only parent, hate to ask for help, put high expectations on myself and generally have not relaxed or slowed down for the last 20 years of my life. Not driving in the fast lane (literally), lifting slower, slowing down when I talk, when I walk and recognizing the impact I have been able to see from the tools and reminders my coach has given me...can't wait for the next SLOW 53 years to come!

5. If you could go back to Day 1 and give yourself advice, what would you say?

Recognize this process takes time so put away unrealistic expectations of immediate change as it won't be sustainable change. Life is full of seasons and going through a cycle of the seasons with your coach is immeasurable. I remember when I first signed up with All-Tru and committed to a year, I had buyers remorse later that night thinking how the hell am I going to need a coach for a year and what could I possibly get from them after 3 months. As I am approaching month 10, I'm still learning, still changing and still loving every minute of having the accountability and my coach with me during the seasons and cycles.
